For example, the white 1968 Bug that Mark just bought had a serial number on the tunnel, towards the back seat. Randy simply looked at the number, which started off with 118... and stated to the seller's amazement that it was a 1968. Basically, the serial number leading number (8, in this case) shows that it was type 1 (the 11) and was an "8".
